MedwayTri is dedicated to encouraging and developing Junior triathletes with a structured training schedule, focused coaching and the hosting of competitive and challenging events, which attract other young athletes from the region and further afield.
Junior aquathlons, duathlons and triathlons
As well as the MedwayTri events, our events listing displays a range of races available to juniors who wish to participate in multi-discipline events. Simply, check our junior events section for more details.
Junior cycling competitions
If cycling is an area you would like to focus on, there are many opportunities. As well as some junior sportives, there are a host of junior cycle races, giving our young triathletes the opportunity to develop in this discipline. Races such as the Lee Valley Cycling series and Team Darenth's Spring in the Park at the Cyclopark, a series of 9 races with a final Championships night, running from May to July, provide an excellent platform for improving fitness, skills and endurance at a key time in the triathlon season. Keep an eye on our junior events section and the events listing.
Junior swim competitions
Swim events can be accessed via local swimming clubs or via your school in the Primary/Secondary school swim championships. If open water is something that you are interested in, suitable open water swimming events will be listed on our junior events listing. Keep an eye out for updates on this list.
Junior run events
Cross country training takes place at Capstone Country park on Saturday afternoons during the winter season. If you are interested in taking part in these sessions, talk to one of the MedwayTri coaches to assess whether they are appropriate sessions for your level or for further advice.
Cross country running is probably best catered for through the schools with the local and county cross country championships being hosted each year. If your school does not have a team entered for these events, please contact our Junior Officer email@example.com for more advice.
MedwayTri is invited to the Kent Cross Country League during the winter months. This is an excellent series of cross country races across Kent, attracting the county’s best athletes, with more than 400 runners taking part, covering all age groups from age 10 to vets. See below:–
