Louise Smashes Her 1st Triathlon
Louise has successfully competed in her first ever triathlon. After thinking she couldn't ever complete one, Louise has now overcome this 'cant do' attitude and replaced it with a 'this girl can' attitude.
The morning of my very first ever Triathlon, a super sprint distance. I was ready as I was ever going to be, feeling slightly nervous, however looking forward to the start, ready to go and do my best!
400m swim, water temp was 16 degrees and it was a little bit chilly, I liked the swim out and back, then on to a 20km bike which had more than a few cheeky little hills, I settled into the bike around the 3k mark. The best bit for me was finishing the bike course as I had found that discipline the hardest of them all. I was then ready for the 4km run around the lake, the run was mostly on trail terrain and a bit muddy in places, but the scenery made up for it.
The atmosphere was brilliant, people were friendly, offering encouragement around the course and cheering you on. There was great support from Medway tri, sharing the day with team mates, and the Team Phoenix ladies made the day even more memorable.TP ladies you were great!
For me today, it was always just about finishing. My overall time was 2:15:20 and I am happy with that.
It took a little while for me to get to this point, it was worth the hard work and the wait. It was a great day and just the beginning of my Triathlon experience.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who has offered words of encouragement and advice. The Sunday rides were a great help, thanks to everyone who lead them, it helped so much!
Lastly, I would like to thank all the coaches at MedwayTri for their patience, support and wise words, turning my “I can’t do this” into “yes I can!”
