The Medway Big Splash Aquathlon
Saturday 14th January 2017, 13:00 - 16:00
Medway Park, Gillingham, Kent, ME7 1HF
Interim results can be found here.
We're pleased to announce that our pool-based Aquathlon is returning to Medway Park in 2017, now in partnership with Medway Council as part of The Medway Big Splash.
The course consists of a pool-based swim, followed by a run around the athletics track, and both have excellent viewing facilities for friends and family. All athletes will receive a well-earned finishers' medal and goody bag. This is designed to be a fun event, and is a great opportunity to have your first go at a multisport race, but it still provides plenty of challenge for the seasoned competitor.
As this is a mid-winter event, the swim and run will not be continuous, but managed as two separate events with a break in between. The race will be professionally chip-timed and is a great way to kick off your early season preparation or to try out multidiscipline sports as a beginner.
With great facilities for both athlete and spectator, why not add The Medway Big Splash Aquathlon to your early-season race calendar. Please note: We are offering a choice of race distances:
- Race One (150m swim, 1500m run) is open to 9 to 14 year-olds
- Race Two (300m swim; 3000m run) is for age 9 to adult
- Race Three (500m swim; 5000m run) is open to anyone aged 15 and over
For younger children who are novices, we recommend that you enter the shortest available race distance for your age group. In particular, Race Two is only suitable for under-11s who are experienced athletes. Parents of entrants under the age of 11 should be aware that the Race Two distances are long, and by entering your child in Race Two, you accept responsibility for their participation over these longer distances.
